Are you happy the people of California did there part to put a stop to gay marriage?

I did my part by voting yes. Now I just hope the liberal power hungry California courts don't try to overturn it. Are you happy the people of California did there part to put a stop to gay marriage?
yes, I'm happy they did their part...and I did mine to stop it here in FL too.Are you happy the people of California did there part to put a stop to gay marriage?
Yes.:)

wow .. democrats..

you want to know why i was for it ?

because of this :

-churches who don鈥檛 allow same sex marriages could be forced to allow it on the grounds that, 鈥榚veryone鈥檚 equal鈥?so, because the California supreme court has made same sex marriage a legal right, cases based on religious matters are less likely to succeed.

-religious adoptions agencies could be forced to set children in same sex homes or be forced to stop the adoption services altogether, it happened in Massachusetts to catholic charities

-based on past events people opposed to gay marriage on religious grounds are labeled as intolerant and subjected to legal penalties or social ridicule, its already happening, for example yes or no on prop 8, if you vote yes you鈥檙e a hater. 鈥榥o on h8te鈥?br>

-some people who oppose gay marriage are having their careers threatened

-children will be taught marriage is between party A and party B, and its equal of that of traditional marriages, making serious clashes between public schools and parents who desire to teach their kids their own values and not to be indoctrinated in public schools.

-the legal definition of marriage could narrow personal liberties some are even lost, like photographers who prefer not to photograph at same sex weddings and doctors who prefer not to artificial inseminate a lesbian woman even if other doctors are willing

So basically if the argument of gay marriage is gouged in happiness and equal rights its really about gaining control and forcing all of us to give up the very foundation of speech and religious freedoms on which this country was founded.
No because if the courts uphold it then it's one of the worst things that could possibly happen in America

Allow to me to use a favorite Fundie argument to present my case :The slippery slope argument

If we are going to allow the majority to vote on how they intend to persecute the minority then we are heading down that long slippery slope that ultimately leads to things like putting unpopular minorities in ghetto's /gulags

The greatest irony of it all is that the anti gay marriage movement was lead by one of the most persecuted religions in American history ;the LDS Church %26gt;you know the Mormons who at one point in their history were so universally disliked that they were driven half way across this continent

)One hundred sixty years later they apparently had forgotten their history and the persecuted become the persecutors ....how sad
I wish this had been going on in the old days when they had shows like the Beverly hillbillies on. Can you imagine what Jed and Granny would have said and think of all the fun. The main thing driving all this is the big money, the government and corporations. They have done the math. It is sad though that they cannot be ';together';, but that's the breaks, sorry guys and gals. If the courts overturn it and liberal california voted against it,then you can bet the bank the entire slate will be wiped clean adn the conservatives take it over, like back in the wild west days when you hung someone for murder, robbery, rape, stealing your horse (i.e. ride), etc.

But it will not come to that, look at all the problems with making one more holiday and the financial impact that had on the states and country. Do people understand what it costs, I guess not. I am sure PE Obama, when he is president will ask them to hold off until the country gets back on it's feet. take care.
It is always sad when those who have been oppressed feel the need to turn and oppress others when they are given the chance.

***Sarcasm ray on***

I just wish those liberal power hungry courts hadn't overturned segregation. I hate knowing that black people might have been drinking from my water fountain. I hate having to sit near them on the subway, they smell so gross! Black people and white people marrying is such an abomination! Hopefully you will do your part to get that one changed too!

***Sarcasm ray off***
Yes. I think it's sad that the CA Supreme Court is actually even considering trying to overturn it. What is the point of putting issues to vote if all it takes is a panel of a few liberal men to determine the outcome anyhow. It's infuriating!

The voice of the people has spoken and the voice said that marriage should be between 1 man and 1 woman ONLY!
YES!!!

but it only gets worse that they are allowed to raise children, that is the ultimate perversion of the bible, nature, and society all rolled into one.

liberalism has truly brought the advancement of civilization to its knees.

On the history note, have you noticed that all glorious empires and societies existed when they were homogeneous and usually only practiced one religion???? and that places that turned into big mixing pots, just kinda simmer in a non achieving state?? or is it just me?

that includes the Chinese, Aztec, Arab, European, etc etc etc empires. we sure have fallen below any Pinnacle of true advancement, what the people did then with the resources they had we should already be living on the moon in comparison.

***John S. but what about when blacks make all black schools and force their own segregation, but whites cant do that because the school would not get funded? That is justice?

leave people to their own devices and you would be surprised.
And I will be even happier when the courts overrule you voting yes. You should be ashamed for voting yes and taking the rights of a minority group away. Gays getting married doesn't lessen your marriage, nor does it hurt you in any way. It will bring more revenue to the state and more jobs. Congrats on being ignorant.

I'm glad judges are around to stand up to protect the minority.
YES!!! Of course I'm happy Emilio. This is probably the only good thing that came out of this election. Good job voting for TRUTH.

If Prop 8 is overturned, I heard my neighbor is going to ask the Supreme Court if they can also ';create'; a new law supporting his rights to marry his dog, the chicken next door and the cat in the alley. Hey why not,he has a right to marry whomever he wants. We can't deny ANYONE their rights.
Liberals never cease to amaze me.

I don't know why gays keep acting like they're going through the Civil Rights Movement. Last time I checked, they were allowed to vote and were not being hosed down by police in Alabama and Mississippi.

Even if Prop 8 didn't pass, where would the gays be married? The Church? Very unlikely. The State couldn't force the Churches to marry gays as the Church is a private entity and this would trigger the separation of Church and State clause.
Yes I'm very happy Proposition 8 passed. I voted too. I hope they NEVER overturn it. This should never had been on the ballot to begin with. Gays should NEVER be allowed to get married. Their ';marriage'; is never going to be valid in the eyes of God.

Man + Woman = Child

That's what marriage is all about. Forming a family and the last I've heard of a man + a man or a woman + a woman cannot procreate!
You did your part?

Since when is it your business to decide who can get married and cannot?

Bet you support the child molesting priests though.

You want to see gay?

Just look at the little avatars on this very site.

You can't make one that does not look gay.
No I'm not happy about it. In fact, to me it's looks a bit suspicious. How would gays getting married bother you, anyway?

Don't worry, it is being challenged legally and the case looks good.
It will be overturned by the courts, as it should be. If it wasn't for the courts the South would still have segregated schools. Thank God the courts are here to provide justice.
Just think the tides are turning, can't wait to deprive you of basic rights and force you to pay taxes without representation. Limiting freedom on some else is to limit yourself. Think about it!
I cant believe we are (were) even considering a mariage between a man and a man, what a mockery of mariage

Glad prop8 passed and this will never be overturned, gays should listen to Elton John who says move on
I think maybe if you don't like the courts in California then you should considering moving to Arkansas or Idaho. No I'm not happy.
way to do the right thing, marriage between a man and a woman will always be ordained by god, even if some slimy judge doesn't think so
OVERTURN OVERTURN! There's no universal law that it's man %26amp; woman only. that's only a religious law.
It should generate much business for California Closets.
Marriage is painful.

Gay marriage is just torturing yourself.

Why the hell would gays want to suffer as well?
I am appalled by the thought that people think that certain rights should be voted upon.

Before you decide whether or not to allow gays to marry, can you please learn the difference between there and their? thanks!
Don't feel so smug as you think you have the right to take others rights away. It will get overturned, AS IT SHOULD.
Ask gays. They want equal rights.
I thought the courts already overturned it? Didn't the judges rule opposite of what the voters wanted? Who do these judges think they are to go against the will of the people?

California is in shambles. How much money do you guys want from the federal government?

YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO MARRY A PERSON OF THE OPPOSITE SEX. IT IS AN ABOMINATION.
