Why is marriage seen as a religious issue?

Isnt it a state issue. If you get married in a church without a marriage license, it doesnt count. If you get married with a marriage license in the backyard, it still counts. Isnt marriage more a state issue than a religious one?Why is marriage seen as a religious issue?
God made the world and all it's creation. His word trumps all others. God said marriage is between one man and one woman. God had a book written , it is a life's manual for everyone. All the answers anyone needs are in this book called the HOLY BIBLE . The worlds troubles repair manual. Trumps all other books. Everyone in this world (believer or not) will meet God face to face and give account for everything he/she has done. (no exceptions). Why is marriage seen as a religious issue?
That's funny you asked this question. Today in my family law class we were talking about this. The reason some people see it as a religion issue is because in the old testament of the bible it states marriage is between a man and a women. In the new testament it doesn't. So people go off of what the old testament has said. Marriage is a state issue. That's why so many people are trying to fight for same sex marriages.
Ummmmm. . . . . . . . . . . .Because it is!
They need to get the word marriage out of the government and keep it in the church.
It is a contract between two willing parties, it should be seen as nothing more and nothing less....hence why I am not married.
Marriage is ordained by God. The location where you get married doesn't matter.
marriage just requires a license...there's no church/religion involved.
Duuuuuuuuuuh, its always been a religious thing.
