Isn't the Bible a threat to monogamous heterosexual marriage?

According to the Bible Solomon had 700 concubines/wives and God considered him a righteous man. Isn't the Bible a threat to the idea that marriage equals one man plus one woman? Isn't the Bible a threat to monogamous heterosexual marriage?
This verse kind of gives credence to why Mormons practiced polygamy, does it not?

However Mormons have discontinued the practice since 1890, in part because the US government outlawed it.Isn't the Bible a threat to monogamous heterosexual marriage?
1) Isn't the Bible a threat to monogamous heterosexual marriage?

Generally, no. In some specific cases, however, it has proven to be so.

2) According to the Bible Solomon had 700 concubines/wives and God considered him a righteous man.

Perhaps you should read that again. Solomon betrayed God because of his many wives. He was not punished directly by God for the sake of his father David - not for any righteousness on his part.

3) Isn't the Bible a threat to the idea that marriage equals one man plus one woman?

Answered. At least in Christianity, we are required by Scripture to obey the laws of those ruling over us - which means that, in most countries, Christian men are forbidden by the bible to have more than one wife. Generally, only when the clear command in this passage is violated can Christian men justify polygamy Scripturally.

Yeah, %26amp; look what a mess he made of things. In Timothy, Paul commands deacons %26amp; elders to be the husband of one wife, thus teaching monogamy. The Bible is one Book that honestly records the behavior of it's characters, warts and all, as in Solomon's case.
No, it's not a threat any more than gay marriage is a threat.

Nobody is saying that a heterosexual couple can't get married. Traditional marriage has never been under threat.
Yes, I read the Bible when I need a good laugh. What's really funny, though, is that people actually read this thing for personal guidance or to find meaning in their lives. Now that's funny!
1 Timothy 3 and 1 Corinthians 7 make if very clear for New Testament Christians that marriage is between one husband and one wife.
Ouch 700 wives, that means 700 mother in laws, 700 rag weeks, 700 attacks of PMT, if he managed to put up with all that then he was a righteous man!
Moses, Abraham and David also had more than one wife.
Did you read what happened to him?
