What's your opinion of people who lost their marriage to prop 8?

Same sex couples that were married in California prior to prop 8's passing have basically just seen their marriages ended. What's your opinion of this? What's your opinion of people who lost their marriage to prop 8?
It's never fun to lose something you think you have. If we we're all given the opportunity to go to the World Series but that person(s) did not have the authority to sign us in or give us the right tickets then should we still let them in? Some times we are promised things by people that have no right promising us anything. They disappoint us and make us feel bad. But just because we were promised something from those without authority to do so does not mean that someone else has to deliver for them. We should be upset with those on the California Supreme Court and Gavin Newsom for trying to promise what was not theirs to give. They wanted to be heroes but ended as zeroes. A lot of people voted for it because of that fact. We shouldn't take steps until we know it's solid ground we will be walking on.

And boycotting is childish and silly. Should those who voted yes on 8 boycott our school system and taxes because our property taxes that go to the school system and teachers, in turn to the teachers union, went to fund $1 million dollars for no on 8?What's your opinion of people who lost their marriage to prop 8?
Nobody's marriage has ended. Thousands of gay couples are still married, and will continue to get married, no matter what homophobic bigots do or say, or what the law allows.

LiveHappilyOnce, your friend and his partner should do the 'civil union' thing to secure some legal rights, and then have their wedding, and make it the biggest, loudest party ever! Laws can't stop, and aren't required for, gay wedding ceremonies. They should use the words that they want to use - say they are ';getting married';, refer to themselves as married, to each other as ';my husband';, etc. Homophobes can't define the word ';marriage'; for anyone else, or keep anyone from using it as they wish.
I listened to some of the more intelligent comments and don鈥檛 quite know what to say for those of you who have or know someone who has really suffered. I have listened openly to the arguments on both sides and found very little solution. We have a lot of freedoms in this country but we also don鈥檛 have as many as some people will build others to believe. All in the name of money. I bet if you take a one mile walk you can find at least ten laws that restrict your freedoms and I bet each of them were motivated by money to be made. I feel sorry for the people, who were married and or who can鈥檛 be married, if they allow the money hungry vultures to bring more suffering or hatred to them.
There was an announcement on the morning news that the Governator stated that such marriages were still valid, as they happened before the proposition passed.

Who's on board with the Utah boycott? I am!

We ought to publish a list of Mormon-owned businesses in other areas, like Las Vegas, and boycott those, too.
My friend just had to cancel his wedding after months of planning. Everything gone. Thanks to bigoted Christians who not only want freedom of belief, they want to impose their morality on others.

This is not love. This is not charity. It is fear and confusion.

Letting loving committed gay people marry isn't a 'threat' to traditional marriage at all. If you don't like the idea of a gay marriage, don't have one.

Shame on Proposition Hate and it's blinkered, stupid, scared supernaturalist supporters.
Actually I heard that those who were married prior to it's passing will still be considered married, BUT it can be contested in a court of law. But yes , I am saddened for them, truly saddened.
Purple,

If I remember correctly, Proposition 8's defeat only keeps people from marrying in CA. It does NOT change the status of any previous marriages. Have a great week.

Thanks,

Eds

the christians and bigots shouldn't have succeeded

it's a bad day for the 'land of the free'

christians shouldn't impose their views on everyone
My opinion is that America took one step forward last week - and one step back.
