I feel that I'm the only one who supports it. ^.^
P.S. Don't tell me that I'm generalizing because with a 70% yes vote for prop 8 from the black community, i think that's a pretty fair judgement. Why does almost every black person disapprove of gay marriage?
Cultural differences, perhaps. I've noticed that down in the US, blacks and whites have two very distinct cultures, with those growing up in the black community more likely to be raised in a religious environment.
Up here in Canada, blacks are no more likely than whites to be for or against gay marriage, at least in my experience, nor are they more likely to be religious. Like I said, it's a cultural thing.
At any rate, 70% really isn't enough to say that ';almost all'; are against gay marriage. A large chunk, yes, but there are a lot of blacks who are fine with gay marriage. Why does almost every black person disapprove of gay marriage?
A lot of them are mad that the lgbt community is dragging the fact that at one time in our very recent history black people did not have the right to officially marry each other, and even more recently a black person didnt have the right to marry a white person.
You would think they would be sympathetic to the cause, but instead the react with righteous indignation about how dare we compare them.
A lot of black people think homosexuality is a white thing. Of course, a lot of them are also on the down low, so maybe its one of those things that when one protests too much it is because he is guilty.
Black women, too, were the ones more heavily against it, even more than black men. They're also the ones that have the lowest marriage success rate, so if they can't land a husband for themselves, they're also probably not too keen on two men marrying each other.
Whites step on the blacks step on the gays step on the.. who knows. Transexuals?
Misdirected cultural revenge, basically
Kind of funny that 69% of black people voted yes for proposition 8....especially since black people once experienced harsh discrimination. LOL...those 69% are pretty hypocritical, huh?!
Well, that was 70% of 10% which really isn't a lot to be honest. Blacks only made 10% of the total voter demographic in California's '08 election.
I support it though ^^
i support gay marriage and i'm black. sometimes anyway.
I have NO idea. I would have hoped that, as another minority, more black people would feel at least a little empathy for GLBT folks...
Because their B.S. meter is always on.They know what parts belong where. They know what's up and what time it is.Wow am I white!
I don't know, but this question probably belongs in politics.
70/30 doesn't exactly correlate to almost all
Personally, myself and all the black people I know are for gay marriage. So I wouldn't know.
America is messed up that's why.....
Perhaps it is because they are black Brothers and Sisters that believe in Jesus Christ?
Then, thumbs up for the blacks.
